On Wednesday, 2K announced its newest eSports event for NBA 2K18. The NBA 2K18 All-Star Tournament will begin on December 31 and end at the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans in February. The grand prize package is $3250,000 and tickets to the NBA All-Star Game at the Smoothie King Center.
The three teams with the highest score on each console on each of the five qualifying days will advance to the tournament.
A new wrinkle has been added to this tournament that wasn't in Road to the Finals, and that's the Wild Card spot. The team on each console that has the highest single-day score that did not finish in the top-three on their selected day, will get the 16th and final seed in their platform's bracket.
The tournament portion of the event begins on February 4 (Rounds 1 and 2). On February 11, the console semifinals and finals will take place. Each round will be single-elimination and the teams that emerge from each console bracket will meet in the finals for the grand prize package.
I attended the Road to the Finals event and it was a blast. As the inaugural eSports event there were some growing pains, but hopefully, we'll see 2K take their competitive gaming scene to the next level with All-Star Tournament.

Thousands of teams participated in our NBA 2K17 Road to the Finals competition, and we expect this tournament to attract great talent and inspire more of the intense action we witnessed in the first.”
Qualifying for the tournament begins on New Year's Eve in the United States and Canada and that will be followed by in-game rounds scheduled in a five-day series beginning on January 28, 2017.
All teams must have Elite status or better, and they can compete on any of the five days. Every qualifying win adds to the team's total score on the leaderboard for the day it's played.
